Sony has developed a new CMOS sensor

Sony is preparing for the industrial release of its own CMOS sensors with improved performance. Technologists of the company have managed to combine high quality and efficiency of the sensor, having patented a new method of global shutter operation.

Proprietary technology made it possible to achieve a pixel size of 2.74 microns with an almost twofold increase in resolution compared to typical CMOS front-facing sensors. In addition, the response speed of the circuits was increased 2.5 times.
Improved sensors are likely to be in demand in industry.
